3 ways Magtrace outperforms Technetium for hospital efficiencies

Here we take a look at the three core metrics, presented by Dr. Rhiana Menen M.D. of Mountain State Breast and General Surgery, that show how Magtrace can deliver better results for your hospital and your patients than Technetium-99m and Blue Dye.

Pre-Magtrace adoption the study observed that an average of 39.5 surgeries were being performed each month from 2021-2022. After adopting Magtrace, this increased by over 20%. 

This increase in surgeries with Magtrace allows more patients to access the highest standard of breast cancer treatment.

Dr. Menen found that by using Magtrace they were also able to decrease the average number of days from referral to surgery by 11 days. 

This is primarily driven by removing the requirements for nuclear medicine in the pathway, and Magtrace providing more flexibility. As a result, the patient can be seen and treated quicker, which has been reported to reduce anxiety levels. 

When compared to Technetium-99m and Blue Dye, Mountain State Breast and General Surgery were able to realize savings of over $1,000 per patient from technology cost alone, just by making the switch to Magtrace. 

This doesn't take into account the additional cost savings which can be unlocked through treating more patients and better utilizing time in the OR. All of this together represents a significant saving to the hospital across the year.
