Eric Mayes, PhD – CEO
Dr Mayes has over 15 years’ experience in developing and leading materials technology companies. Prior to joining Endomag as CEO in 2010, Eric held executive positions in Cambridge Display Technology (CDT) and NanoMagnetics. He was named the Royal Society of Chemistry’s ‘Entrepreneur of the Year 2003’ for his founding role in NanoMagnetics. Eric is an advisor to the University of Texas at Austin’s ‘Texas Health Catalyst’ and the European Nanomedicine Translation Advisory Board (TAB). A US-UK dual national, he holds a BSc in Physics from Arkansas State University and a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Bath. Eric is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
Andrew Shawcross, PhD – COO
Dr Shawcross has 25 years’ experience in industrially based scientific R&D, built initially on his time with ICI, Zeneca and Avecia, through to more recent experience with Xennia, CDT and now Endomag. Originally trained as a chemist, Andy’s career has taken him into the areas of dyes/pigments, polymers, formulation, semiconductors, nanotechnology, inkjet, displays and medical devices. In the last 15 years Andy has held a wide range of technical and project management roles, as well as gaining significant experience in sales, business development, quality, regulatory and operational management. Andy holds a PhD in Organic Chemistry from Northumbria University.
Mathew Stephens – Commercial Director
Mathew has over a decade of experience in the medical device industry with SRA Developments. He joined SRA in 2003 and helped launch the Lotus Ultrasonic Scalpel, then grew through various sales and marketing roles until his most recent position as European Sales & Marketing Manager. Through sales, marketing, product design, brand management, training and mentoring, Mathew helped to build the Lotus Ultrasonic Scalpel from an unknown device into a multi-million pound entity sold both domestically and in over 35 international markets. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry and Business Administration from the University of Bath.
Quentin Harmer, PhD – CTO
Dr Harmer is a Chartered Engineer with more than 15 years’ experience in leading the development of advanced medical devices and drug-device combination products. He joined Endomag from Vectura Group plc where he served as Project Director responsible for the development of novel inhaler products. Before joining Vectura he was a Project Leader at Cambridge Consultants Ltd. He is an inventor on numerous patents that have been licensed in deals worth more than £40m. Quentin holds a PhD in Engineering Design and an MA in Engineering, both from the University of Cambridge.
Rob Hincks – Finance Director
Rob is a chartered certified accountant with over 15 years’ experience working in industry for both private and public companies. He previously worked as a senior accountant at CDT and, more recently, as Financial Controller at Isosceles Finance overseeing a variety of technology and consultancy businesses. Rob has a BSc (Hons) in Sports and Exercise Sciences from Staffordshire University and is an FCCA.
